Legend of Legaia Remake — a fan project by LixStudios

An unofficial fan-made remake of the classic PlayStation JRPG Legend of Legaia, independently developed by LixStudios using Unreal Engine 5.

The Project

What is Legend of Legaia Remake?

Legend of Legaia Remake rebuilds the world of the 1998 PlayStation JRPG Legend of Legaia in Unreal Engine 5 — the towns, the dungeons, the world map and the three main characters, area by area, following the layout of the original game.

Every map starts from the real geometry of the original: the PlayStation level is extracted, cleaned up in Blender, scaled to the project and used as a reference to rebuild the area from scratch. The result keeps the shape and the pacing of the original while looking like a modern game. The art direction is deliberately stylized and low-poly, and the camera stays top-down, like the original.

The current scope is the first island, the Drake Kingdom. Every area is finished except the Mist Generator and the cave, and the battle system is what comes next. It is a solo project, in development since December 2023.
